So this morning I had to go to the allergist to find out if I'm truly allergic to lidocaine, which I need to know before I get some work done at the chamber of horrors -- er, I mean, dentist's office -- later this month. I knew it would be a long morning and considered bringing my laptop, but for whatever reason, decided against it.
Once I got there and realized how freaking boring it was going to be, I managed to trouble the office staff for some paper, a pen, and a clipboard. To my great surprise, it was actually a very productive morning. In between having my arm stabbed repeatedly, I wrote about 8 pages of notes, probably the most longhand I've done since...hell, I don't know. A long time.
The weird thing is that I was jotting down a rough sketch (mostly dialogue) of some scenes that I haven't had the motivation to write. I think I actually wrote three scenes all the way through, resolving some problems that have been nagging at me for eons.
So...maybe that's the cure. When I just can't get something squared away, I need to step away from the laptop, go to a new "place", and try it longhand. I guess you learn something new everyday.
I've also learned that they have KFC in Scotland. I knew they had McD's, but was unaware that the KFC fungus had spread that far. Random tidbit, but could be good to know.
And I learned that I'm not actually allergic to lidocaine.
It's been a good day.
That is all.

What is the meaning of this blogtitle???
ReplyDeleteIf you had to spend your morning being stabbed repeatedly in the arm...you'd use that title too. So there.
