Great Googly Moogly.

What a freaking badass - if exhausting - day. I am currently using the totes free wi-fi at our incredibly badass (if quaint and tiny) hotel, where Libbie and I are staying with our respective husbands. We got a totally suite deal (SEE WHAT I DID THERE?) on this place too. It's awesome.

No pictures yet, as I don't have my laptop with me, but rest assured, there will be lots of pictures. Like, seriously. A lot. Tons. I'm almost halfway through a 4GB memory card on my camera. But for now, rather than pictures telling 1,000 words, you will have to settle for the more primitive form of communication, which would be...um...words.

Our day commenced at some unholy hour. We got up, drove to La Case de Libbie, and got into her car for the journey to the ferry dock. On the way, we listened to the audio version of Twilight, and went all MST3K on it. Why? Hell, why not? Sorry to all the Twilight lovers out there, I am not one of ye.

As we were serenaded by Twilightery, we continued onto the Kingston Ferry, then off the ferry, up to Port Angeles, and down the coast to...yes...FORKS. There, we took photos, ate crappy food, and found out - to our great chagrin - that every hotel in Forks was booked solid. We continued south...same deal. Crap. After slogging through construction traffic and clusterfuckery, we managed to find this awesome little motel here in Quinault. There, some napping and e-mail checking occured before we headed back up north to Kalaloch Lodge for a particularly fantastic dinner (which more than made up for our lackluster lunch in Forks).

All along the way, much picture-taking occured, including: Signage in Forks, a pleasantly spectacular sunset, a bald eagle taking a drink on the beach, some really creepy looking dead trees, a giant cedar tree, Libbie doing the "Captain Morgan" pose on said giant tree, a vampire sparkling on the side of the road, Eddie and Libbie doing "Thriller" poses, and sand. I assure you those photos will be worth the wait. Oh, and Eddie and Libbie also took a swim in Lake Quinault, where much splashing and "oh shit this water is cold" cursing happened.

Tomorrow's itinerary consists of meandering in a northerly direction in the morning. There are a few beaches on the way, where we plan to stop and take pictures in between doing "Thriller". Then, it's on to Forks, where I predict a great deal of asshattery will occur. We will then continue north, followed by some southeasterly leanings and another ferry ride, depositing Libbie back at her apartment in time to catch some much-needed sleep before she has to be up at 5:30 the next morning. Eddie and I will head home, upload pictures, and promptly cause both Facebook and Blogger to simultaneously crash beneath the weight of the fruits of our photographying.

Phil Collins will also be making a guest appearance in tomorrow's photos.

Stay tuned...
