Shamelessly stolen from the purple patch, it's another writing meme.
Your genre(s): Romance. Specifically Erotic Romance. Lately, a hell of a lot of Male/Male Erotic Romance. So much for sticking to Fantasy and Science Fiction.
How many books are you working on now: One, The Devil You Know. I've got some editing to do on a few other books, but when I'm working on a first draft, I focus on one at a time.
Are you a linear or chunk writer: Chunk. I write so out of sequence it isn't even funny. Last night, I finished three of the four final chapters of The Devil You Know, and just now finished Chapter 2.
The POV you’re partial to: Used to be third person limited, but I'm becoming very, very attached to first person. It mostly depends on whether or not I want to show both the male and female main characters' perspectives throughout the story. For this reason, Camera Shy and With The Band are third person limited. Luke Boydston's Baby is as well, but the entire book is in the female main character's perspective. Why? Because when I started writing it, the publisher I had in mind required third person. I've since decided not to go with that publisher, but I still think it worked for the book, so, hey, no harm, no foul. I can really go either way except when it comes to Male/Male romance. Why? Because when I'm writing about two people of the same gender, it turns those scenes(tm) into Pronoun Hell. This is the primary reason Between The Lines is currently stalled. So: Hetero? Prefer first person, but okay with third limited. Gay? First person only.
The Tense you use: Past. Hands down. No freaking contest. I can't even read present tense without wanting to hurt myself.
The theme that keeps cropping up in your books: Besides sex? Hmm, honesty comes to mind. Love, of course. Oh, and tattoos. There are a lot of tattooed men in my books.
How many days a week do you write: At least 5, usually 6 or 7.
What time of day do you get your best writing done: Late morning through early evening.
Who are your mentors: Scarlett. Scarlett. Scarlett. Also Libbie, who's been with me on this writing journey since my early days of fantasy fail.
My favorite authors to read: Besides Scarlett and Libbie? Oh hell, there's a bunch. Stephen King, Sara Douglass, a few bazillion I can't think of offhand. I read mostly romance these days, but haven't picked a favorite author.
There. Now I have wasted some time. Back to work...
Oh look, I has a mention! :D
