New toy, new books, and...a new book.

Scarlett got a Sony Reader Touch.

Dirty bitch see, dirty bitch do...I went out and bought one myself.

So now I'm having a ball downloading all manner of books from Project Gutenberg in addition buying a few off AllRomance. Now I have about 500 books on my reader, and will start steadily plowing through them so I can update my reading list. At the moment, I'm reading Lolita. I've read bits and pieces of it a few times, but I've never read the whole thing. So...now I'm going to.

I've also been plottingering and scheminating a couple of new books. Today, I started writing The Opposite of You. Updates to come as I get closer to the Milestones of Destinah. Now, what's a project without another project demanding my attention? Thanks to a comment from Libbie, I've revisited an idea I had a few months ago (which was caused by another comment from Libbie). Strangely enough, in no time flat, the characters presented themselves and the story fell into place. It's just as well I'm not starting the book just yet - I need to research a few things first - but damn if it's not nagging at me every five minutes.

Anyway, this Libbie-inspired, Libbie-demanded project is now Scarlett-titled Through a Glass Darkly. I'm really excited about it, but it has to wait until The Opposite of You is finished. Given that The Opposite of You is a mercifully, blissfully, long-awaited simple story without all the craziness of Cover Me, Darkly, or the not-abandoned-yet The Ties That Bind, I'm hoping I can finish it relatively quickly. Then I'll edit Cover Me, send it off to beta readers, and throw myself through the glass. Darkly. Er, I mean, throw myself into Through a Glass Darkly. And Libbie will, if she knows what's good for her, be happy about this, as will Scarlett.

I think I can safely assume they will likewise both be happy about this:

  1. HOORAAAYYYY, Robert Downey Jr! Oh, and some other stuff, I guess.

Enjoy Lolita! You know it's my all-time favorite. I hope my recent obsessive quoting of Lolita on Facebook had something to do with your deciding to jump on it.

  2. I'm reading it too.

    I also approve of RDJ.

Which probably means I'm turning into Libbie.

  3. My favorite line from Lolita...wait, I don't want to spoil. I'll tell you after.

I read the big Through a Glass Darkly many years ago, but I can't remember what it was about. I guess the dark glass here is my memory.
