The gods, they are fickle. And Bastian, he won't shut up.

*sigh* Wouldn't it just figure I'd get in over my head with The God Charade?

Okay, maybe that's not the right way to phrase it. If anything, I've just reached a point where I need to do some research. Like, a lot of research. That, and I need to have a little brainthink about some of the plot points, character motivations, etc. Something's missing, something's not adding up.

In short? The God Charade isn't ready to be written yet.

I think the story is sound, and the cast of characters works well, but I need to do some work on the "science" part of the science fiction. So, The God Charade is getting shelved for a while. Not to be confused with being cast into The Wangstbasket, which is more permanent. This is more of a temporary thing. A hiatus. Purgatory, if you will, as opposed to hell.

Some "paused" projects do end up staying that way forever, but that usually means there was something fatally wrong with them. A shitty plot, for example. Or lame characters. Or just a general case of "WTF was I thinking?"

And as one book goes into this purgatorial time-out, it just so happens another is coming out (so to speak). As I mentioned in a previous blog entry, I'm resurrecting With the Band once again, this time with a male POV character instead of female. Bastian, this is your last chance. You've risen from Project Purgatory three times now. I would suggest you cooperate and tell me your story properly this time, or you'll be cast into the deepest, darkest pits of the Wangstbasket. (Please don't make me do that...Scarlett has threatened me with bodily harm if you never see publication.)

So, time to shift some projects around, do some outlining, and it's back to writing filth.
