We (Eddie, my brother, and I) went to the range today. Hooray!! First time in nearly 6 years. I was afraid I'd be out of practice, but apparently it's just like riding a bike...well, except that if you fall, you might kill someone. Though I did manage to shoot the target hanger at one point. Oops. Good thing PVC pipe is cheap. Hehehe
My favorite gun in the world is the Smith & Wesson 629 .44 magnum, as evidenced by this ancient video. Sadly, I had to sell that gun a few years ago. But today, I rented another one, and to my great delight, I haven't lost my touch. (and it's not the most flattering shot of me, I've gained some weight, but that video makes me look like Grimace)
The range also has an array of AR-15 rifles, which are, for all intents and purposes, M-16's. These have been converted to shoot 9mm ammo, and are so. much. fun. I love these rifles.
Yay! What an afternoon. Much fun. And the videos will keep the experience for posterity, and give me motivation to reduce the size of my posterior, because goddamn, the camera does NOT like me today.
Also, when I got home, I found that my birthday present to myself had arrived. I've been wanting one of these guys forever, and finally bought one:
Can you tell I have a thing for griffins? I have one tattooed on my leg, and now one to adorn my desk. YAY! The pic above is tiny, but the actual statue is about 9" tall. So cool! :D Griffins (or gryphons) are a pain in the ass to find, whether in statue form or tattoo form; they're usually cartoonish or just...blah. But, I have a feeling this is the beginning of a new collection...since I no longer collect model horses, I'll collect winged eagle-lion-dragon-etc hybrid statues. :D
And in other news, I'm gearing up to get rolling on NaNoWriMo. I've decided on my project, and am 95% done with the outline. Just need to do a little bit of research, futz around with some character sketches, and I'll be ready to rock and roll. Hooray!
You are clearly unhinged.
ReplyDeleteUh...I just insulted you and you're the one with teh shooturz.
