Since the "scheduled power outage" in base housing turned out to be today instead of tomorrow, it was an ideal time to go out and wander around the island. We got lost in Naha, as we always do, then went to Sunset Beach near American Village. Twas a hazy day, but we still got some cool pics.
I should mention right now that the photography snob in me normally forbids "out the car window" photography, but there are times when I am either unable or not inclined to stop and snap a pic, so it will just have to do.
Such as, when a building like this comes into view:
They really like their colorful buildings here:
Monorail station in Naha...
And the monorail...
Erm, no...
Eddie, doing the "Dance of the Habu Check" before claiming his soda from the clutches of the evil Habu Lair...(there was, fortunately, no Habu in this machine):
Umm...one way street?
Just a funky artsy shot BECAUSE I CAN...
Then we ran into some members of the local wildlife...
This guy is about the size of an American dime...
Socialites have chihuahuas, Okinawans have long-haired Dachsunds. These things are EVERYWHERE:
Then we went by the canal in American Village...
And lo! What is that wiggly thing that caught mine eye in yonder canal?
It is...yes...a PUFFER FISH:
So. CUTE. He's about the size of a football (an American football, for my less-civilized British blog minions).
"HAI! I am cute!"
Then we returned home and discovered that our electricity was still out, so we fled the darkness and went to White Beach, where the little restaurant has wireless intertubes.
Speaking of which, my sandwich is ready, so I will end this blog entry by saying...PUFFER FISHY! SQUEEEEE!!!
