The Wangstbasket: A Verdict Has Been Reached.

Under My Skin has crossed the Milestone of Destinah, and is currently sitting at roughly 18,500 words. The time has come to make a decision...continue, or toss it into the Wangstbasket.

It's still giving me a lot of headache. I'm still uncertain about a lot of the conflict, the characters, etc. It's still crawling along compared to my normal productivity.

So after much deliberation, a few thousand more words since yesterday, and a threat of bodily harm from Scarlett, I have come to a verdict:

The story shall continue.

Why am I continuing when it's giving me so much headache? Simple: The characters are starting to take over. A characterocracy usually means I have some decent, workable characters, and if I follow them, the story will work itself out. The simple fact is this book is not going to be as easy to write as some of my previous books. 'Tis the nature of the beast.

I'm happy with the scene I finished today, and Scarlett and Adam both gave favorable reviews on the three chapters finished yesterday. Now, onto the rest of the story.

I had a particularly difficult time with today's scene, and a few minutes ago I was tempted to call it a day and pick up again tomorrow, but I can't stop now.

Why?

Because my OCD noticed that I'm less than 1,000 words away from 580,000 for my 2009 total, and I simply can't sleep until I hit it. Must...hit...milestone...
