We are now somewhere in California. Travis Air Force Base, to be specific. Today, I have learned the true meaning of flying "cargo class", because we were traveling on a cargo jet. Funky fold-down seats, a lot of noise, etc. And you know what? It was more comfortable than flying coach. Hopefully we'll be flying on a similar aircraft on our next flight which - assuming we get on the flight - will take us to Alaska, then Japan.
Anyway, things are going swimmingly so far, so hopefully they will continue to do so.
I spent the 90 minute flight working on Nine Tenths of the Law in my notebook (trusty YOOGN, which is rapidly running out of pages). I was, however, distracted for a short while when the muse came traipsing onto the plane, slapped me across the face, and gave me an idea for another story. I jotted some notes, did some thinking, then went back to Nine Tenths of the Law.
Upon my arrival in Californiastan, I e-mailed Scarlett and told her about this new idea. She approved, and demonstrated her approval by bestowing upon this new story the title Scream. (No, titles can't be copyrighted, so yes, I can use this title in spite of the appallingly stupid series of films by the same name) Of course, this comes on the heels of the other idea (also titled by Scarlett), Kick...and still another idea came to me during the flight. There are days when I really wish the muse would STFU, because I want to finish my current book, not think about future ones. But hey, at least there won't be any "OMG, what will I write next?" anxiety after I finish this book.
So, when Nine Tenths of the Law is done, the next book in the queue could be any one of the following:
Closer
Under My Skin
Scream
Kick
Exciting, I KNOW.
Anyway, I'm rambling, so I'll stop. Off to see what delicacies are offered by the terminal's vending machines, the patiently await role-call for the flight to Alaska. Updates to come.
