Will Lightning Strike Thrice?

Scarlett the Muse has struck again.

A few months ago, a flippant "oh, just write about X, Y, and Z" spawned Between Brothers.

In April, an offhand "what I wouldn't give to see a story about A, B, and C" set off a series of explosions in my skull and resulted in Rules of Engagement.

Today, she sent me a random picture of something completely unrelated to, well, anything, and it caused a few synapses in my brain to spark to life. Enough to make me put aside the as-yet-untitled project I started tinkering with yesterday.

Within minutes, characters came marching into my head along with an inciting incident (you know, the "oh shit" moment that sets the story in motion). When I informed Scarlett of this cranial sputtery, she then bestowed upon me a title, as well as a better name for one of the characters.

So begins Nine Tenths of the Law.

Will it meet the same fate as Rules of Engagement and Between Brothers, or be condemned to the Wangstbasket? Only one way to find out...

  1. I got to your blog from the NaNoWriMo guest thingy you did, and I gotta say, your word output is astounding. It's my dream to be a successful writer (meaning I can finish some books and be proud to show them off to my friends and close relations) and your words have already been very inspiring to me. I hope it's not creepy if I continue reading? :)

  2. Not creepy at all!! Always happy to have more readers. :)

As for your own dream: Just keep writing, keep reading anything you can get your hands on, and study the craft. Be patient, but persistent. You'll get there. :)

    Welcome to my blog. :)

  4. I'm tinkering with one novella for the publisher that picked up one of my books, but I don't know how many more I'll do. Novels are definitely more my speed.
