We interrupt your regular sleep...

...with a 7.0 (or 7.3, depending on the source) earthquake at 5:35 am. The epicenter was about 50 miles offshore from Naha, which is 20 km or so south of Uruma City (where we live).

Several of you have e-mailed to ask if all was well, and yes, we are fine. It rattled us both out of bed at that ungodly hour, freaked the cats out, and knocked a few things off the wall, but we're fine. I usually have almost a panic attack during earthquakes, but for some reason, stayed pretty calm during and after this one. Probably the reassurance that I am in a concrete box that is built specifically for such an occasion.

Annie calmed down and went back to sleep fairly quickly. Midget continued freaking out for about 20 minutes afterward (she also had a spaz attack about 15 minutes prior to the shaking, which was why I was already awake when it started).

Ironically, it happened right as Eddie was yanking the covers towards his side of the bed. Let that be a lesson to you, Eddie.

So, we're rattled, but all is well. I appreciate everyone's concern. Now back to your regularly scheduled fun, frivolity, and Henry Cavill.
