Livin' in an Asthmatic's Paradise...

Apologies to Coolio, but...well...it fits.

One of the many things I love about Okinawa is the air quality. Visibility is incredible, the air doesn't stink of industry or traffic (well, except in some places), etc. Aside from the occasional hazy day or some smoke when they're burning sugarcane fields, it's crystal clear most of the time.

Most of the time.

You may or may not have heard about the dust storms currently going on in China. Well, we're not only hearing about them...we're sharing them.

This is the view from my back porch:
And the front porch:
You can barely see it, but near the center of the pic is a smokestack or something that we can usually see perfectly clearly. Here's a slightly better pic of it:
Normally, we can clearly see the stack and the blue stripes around its top.

This is a close-up of our sliding glass door:
It rained last night, so the dust seems to be settling now. Thank God for that...everyone is sniffling and sneezing, the visibility sucks, and our windshields are covered in dust. Good times.

  1. I was wondering what was up with that! It was almost creepy.
