He's Home!!

Eddie got home yesterday, and we spent the evening with some friends. Today, we're chilling out before embarking on a week of non-stop house-fixing. The house is mostly done, but just needs a bit of grunt work. Painting, poly'ing, etc.

We've got plans almost every night this week to spend time with our friends before we go. While I am chomping at the bit to get the fuck out of this godforsaken state, I am going to miss some of our friends. We've met some really cool people since we've lived here, and I hope that we will see some or all of them again in the future.

But...cool people or not...Virginia can pucker up and smooth my lily white ass, because this communistwealth sucks.

1 week from today, and we hit the road. I've spent the last half hour or so plotting our road trip, and it looks like I'll be adding a couple of states to my "States I've Visited" map. We'll be driving through West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana, Idaho, and of course, Washington 3,000 miles. Yay. I've never been to Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, or North Dakota...I'm sure they'll be exciting as hell with their endless vistas of...wheat. Of course, we won't be stopping at any tourist attractions, given that we will have a car full of whining, impatient felines that simply won't understand our need to leave them in the car while we snap pictures for a couple of hours. We will, I'm sure, stop along the way for a few photo ops though. I mean, what's a road trip without a few gratuitous pictures of sunsets, funny signs, and cows?

The cats are happy to have their daddy home, but I'm sure they'll be less than thrilled about the upcoming road trip.

So there's the update for now. Not a whole lot of excitement.

Are we there yet?
